Top 5: Autumn (Fall) Products

I just want to start this by saying that I took these photos on my phone so if they're not great, that's why. Sorry!

I’m not one for wearing make-up and trying lots of new skincare products – I’m easily pleased and far too lazy to spend time perfecting the art of make-up application. That being said, I’m only human… I like to look acceptable, some times. Without further ado, here (in no particular order) are my favourite products for autumn!

Nails Inc – Piccadilly Circus

I own a few polishes from Nails Inc but this is the one I found myself reaching for as soon as the weather started to get a little colder. It’s like a deep, but somehow bright, berry shade. I love it! It’s perfect for adding a pop of colour to an outfit without being too much. For me, if I were sum up autumn in a colour, it would be burgundy and this is, to me anyway, a bright burgundy colour.

Ignore my god-awful hands and focus on the colour. It’s my favourite colour to take me from summer to autumn, plus it leads perfectly into winter. You can’t go wrong.

Nails Inc polishes last well on me – this lasts about a week before it chips, usually. The formula means they’re super easy to apply and the coverage is great so if you want this to look a little brighter, you could apply one coat and get away with it.

I got this free in a magazine (it’s where I get all my Nails Inc polishes) but you can pick it up here for £11.

 MUA Crazy in Love

When these were released, I saw pictures online and knew straightaway that I’d have to get my hands on at least one of them. Think of them as the alternative to a Clinique Chubby Stick (available here for £17) or Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (available here for £7.99), except they’re only £3!

I can’t compare the Power Pouts as I haven’t tried any of the alternatives but, honestly, I’m less inclined to try the more expensive options now, simply because I’m so in love with MUA’s version.

The texture is smooth and it leaves a slight glossy look on the lips but that fades after a while but the colour sticks around for hours. The Power Pouts have a minty scent to them which isn’t too strong or sickly. It’s a slightly brighter colour than the Nails Inc varnish but it’s along the same lines – it’s a bright berry but deep enough for autumn. I like to apply a balm before using this because my lips are never in the best condition and dry out easily but if your lips are in a good way, you could probably skip that.

Power Pouts come in 6 shades and are available here for £3.

Waitrose Bath Foam

I bought this on a whim and it turned out to be one of the best purchases I’ve made in recent times. I was wondering around the new Waitrose that opened up near mine and they had this offer whereby if you spent £5 in store, you’d get your parking for free (or something like that, anyway). I had to get a few basic grocery items but not enough to qualify so it made perfect sense to me to go to the beauty aisles and it was there I spotted this little beauty.

I’d been on the lookout for something that I could use for a nice relaxing bath – something that would foam and smell nice and relaxing. TA DA! I found it.

I wish technology had come far enough so that you could smell this through your screen because I’m terrible at describing scents. Something tells me ‘nice’ and ‘mmm’ won’t cut it! Here goes… It’s a fresh scent, suitable for male or females. It’s fresh and clean but with a certain depth to it. It’s wonderful.

When I bought it, Waitrose were running a deal – 2 for £2 – and I was worried that it might have finished by now but you’re in luck, it’s still going on. Pick yours up here for £1.43 or 2 for £2.

Calvin Klein Cream Eyeshadow

As stated already, I’m not one for putting a lot of make-up on, if any at all. When I saw this in PoundLand, I thought I’d give it a whirl. After all, how much effort could it be to swipe a cream colour over my lids?
The answer..? None. It’s great because it allows me to add a bit of something to my face without me taking ages doing it. I simply swipe a bit of this over the lid with my finger and then blend the edges with a brush. Simple!

This is in the shade ‘Sheer Nectar’ and is a deep brown colour with very subtle green and red glitter particles that aren’t all that noticeable when on the lid. I don’t use a primer with this and it doesn’t crease which is always nice! If I’m feeling super fancy, I sometimes sweep a bit of eyeshadow over the top to set it.
Fragrance Direct sell it here for £2.99 and offer a number of different colours.

Superdrug's Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser

I’ve wanted to try the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (available here for £14.75) for the longest time after seemingly every beauty blogger raved about it but there’s no way I’d want to spend that much money on something I don’t know I’ll enjoy. Call me tight but that’s how it is.

Then I saw this little beauty in Superdrug for a fraction of the price. In fact, it was on offer when I bought it which was even better. It then went back up to full price (£5.99) but is, once again, on offer here for just £2.98.

I’ve fallen in love with this product. It’s simple to use and leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth. I’m not too keen on the scent but it doesn’t stick around on the face so it’s bearable. It’s said to “revive skin’s radiance and even out skin tone” which I half agree with as I’m not sure it evens out my skin tone. It also provides a gentle exfoliation which leaves the skin “feeling renewed, soft, and ultra clean” all of which is spot on.

My face gets quite dry when the weather gets colder and this does a marvellous job at putting a bit of life and softness back into it.

Tuesday's Treats - The Beauty Parlour and MUA

Last week I went shopping with no intention of buying anything – I just wanted to browse the shops on my lunch break. To my delight, I found one of the nicest smelling body butters I’ve ever come across for £1.49! What an absolute bargain!

I don’t often look around Savers but I’m so glad I did. You get 300ml of product which I think, for the price, is a steal. It smells quite similar to some of the Soap and Glory products (the peachy scented ones). It’s not as strong as the Soap and Glory scent but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Some of the scents that are listed in the ingredients are: Shea Butter, Apricot, Orange, and Patchouli. I put this on after a bath and it leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised and, more importantly, it leaves me smelling absolutely beautiful.

The texture is quite thick so a little bit of this product goes a long way. Usually my legs are incredibly dry and, therefore, itchy but The Beauty Parlour’s Body Butter helps no end!

I also treated myself to an MUA nail varnish today in ‘Pistachio Ice Cream’ for just £1. I’ve been looking for a nice mint shade for my nails but I was never sure it would suit my skin tone. I figured for £1 it didn’t matter if I bought this one and didn’t like it.

MUA have recently changed the packaging (is that the right word?) of their nail varnishes and it’s definitely for the better. They’re easier to hold when painting your nails and they just look better in general.

It only took two coats to get an opaque colour and, although it looked fairly streaky after the first coat, it evens out in the second. So don’t panic if it looks a little iffy after one coat! It turns out that I love this shade on my nails and I’m glad I managed to find the perfect mint shade without having to spend a fortune. Thank God for MUA!

They currently have a sale on their website so check it out and get your own Tuesday Treat!

Tuesday's Treats: Oh, How I Wish...

I’m trying to be a good girl and not spend any money for a while. It’s not as hard as I thought it would be although I’m having to work really hard to resist buying more books and DVD’s. So, instead of buying money, I thought I’d make a wish-list of things that I want to buy at some point.

First up is this gorgeous dress:
(Photo taken from their website)

It’s from inlovewithfashion and is an absolute bargain at just £14. I already own a dress of theirs and I couldn’t love it more if I tried. The quality is really good, as is the fit.

I’ve been loving anything with bird print on recently so this caught my eye immediately. Maybe I’ll break the spending ban for it… Who knows? If you want to check out more of their stuff, they've got an amazing sale on at the moment!

Secondly... MUA have recently bought out their version of Clinique’s Chubby Sticks. Although Clinique have a lot more shades available (check them out HERE) they’re also £16 and so, although I’d love to try one, I’m delighted that MUA have bought out something more suitable to my bank balance.

MUA call them 'Power Pouts' and there are 6 colours available, each with cute names. They’re also only a mere £3! (available HERE) In fact, you could buy all the shades available and spend just £2 more than it would cost for one Clinique Chubby Stick. If that’s not a bargain, I don’t know what is.

(Taken from their Facebook)

I’m waiting until these are available in store before I consider buying one because I want to know how they’ll look with my skin tone so keep your eyes peeled because I’ll probably review it when I get my hands on them! I’m most tempted by ‘Crazy in Love’, ‘Runway’, and ‘Justify’ – I think the last two will look great in Spring/Summer.

What’s on your wish-list at the moment?

Yay for MUA!

I’m going to start this post by apologising about the picture quality. My camera is old and on its last legs. Right, now on to the post…

Today I popped into my local Superdrug with one intention; to buy MUA’s Love Heart’s nail varnish in ‘I Want U’. Here’s what I ended up leaving the store with:

If there’s one word I could use to describe most MUA products, it would be pigmented. Each of the products I’ve purchased today prove that description to be right, which is always nice. Sorry there's no swatches. I got annoyed with my camera.

I couldn’t resist buying the Undressed palette.

There’s been so much talk about how it’s a dupe for the Naked palette (a palette I’ve wanted for a long time) so I’d be crazy not to buy MUA’s palette for just £4. The colours are beautiful and I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of every colour.

The palette is made up of 12 shadows. 2 are matte and the rest are shimmery - some more than others. Shimmery eyeshadows usually scare me but these are my ideal shades and just perfect!

As you can see, I managed to get the nail varnish I wanted. I can’t wait to paint my nails with this. Orange isn't the usual colour I'd opt for on my nails but this colour is incredible! The brush seems to be better than some of the brushes you get in their £1 nail varnishes as they could sometimes be a bit hit and miss (I still love them though! I actually own about 13!). Maybe when I’ve painted my nails, I’ll add a picture of them at a later date.

MUA are currently running a deal both online and in Superdrug stores whereby if you spend £6 on MUA products, you get a free Artiste collection palette. So because of these two purchases, I got the palette free, yay! The colours are beautiful. It includes 6 marbled eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer, and a highlighter.

My personal favourites from this palette are: chocolate (5th eyeshadow colour), cookie (last eyeshadow colour), primrose (second blusher), bronzed, and shimmer kiss. That being said, all the colours are great!

Finally, I bought a lipstick in Shade 13. I’ve become a little bit obsessed with red lipstick recently. I don’t know why because it’s such a bold colour and I tend to shy away from them but it’s just such a classic look. This lipstick applies evenly and lasts for a while. It’s the perfect shade of red.

I love MUA products. They’re affordable and they have excellent pigmentation and such a range of products. They always seem to have some kind of deal on too which is amazing. Better yet, they keep adding items to their collection… I can’t wait to get my hands on some of the fur nail effect. It looks amazing!

What products do you love from the MUA collection and what would you like to see added to it?
